Randi & Roli's Blog Site!!!!!!!!

Our prayers go out to the families and friends of Randi & Roli. Please feel free to express your thoughts and prayers here for them, there families, and friends to show how much support they have at a time of need.

We invite you to join us in praying for the continued healing of Randi and Roli. We are asking God to give strength to their bodies and to restore them from the trauma of the accident.

We set up this Blog as a communication tool. Please keep checking for updates as they come in.

December 2: Randi received a titanium rod in her leg and she has both legs in casts.

December 2: Roli started responding to stimulus (pain and light) at 1pm.

December 3: Randi received visitors and was moved to her own room.

December 3: Roli's vital signs are normal and the pressure in his head has been kept under control. Today was a day for resting!

December 4: Today Roli had a fever and cultures were taken to see if anti-biotic will be needed. To keep the pressure in his brain down the doctors have put him on a machine that paralyzes his movements.

December 6: Roli goes for a CT Scan tomorrow on his head to see what is happening. Cultures came back negative for infection. The doctors are working to balance blood pressure (need for blood in the brain) and the head pressure. Roli is still sleeping.

December 6: Randi is continuing to heal and will be leaving the hospital this week to go to a rehabilitation center close to the hospital where the hard work for her will begin.

December 7: Roli wa schduled for a CT Scan @ 5am. Results have not be received as of 9:30am.
Keep praying!!!!!!

December 7: Roli's CT Scan showed that there had been no new damage to his brain. We are thankful for that news. The area of his brain most effected by the wreck is his brain stem. The biggest challenge now is that Roli has pneumonia. He is on anti-biotic. Pray for the pneumonia to clear up quickly so that the treatment for his head injury can be more focal.

December 8: Roli's neurologist said that the CT Scan from yesterday looks encouraging. He would not have say this unless he was certain. The Otero family would like to thank everyone for there support and visiting them in the hospital. It is at the request of the family to have as few visitors as possible at this time. Visitors will be welcome as soon as he gets stronger and can have people over. Thanks for your understanding in this manner.

December 9: Roli neurologist believes that the swelling of the brain is much less then originally thought. However, swelling does exist. Today, plans are to reduce his sedation to see if Roli will wake up.

Lets keep praying!!!!

He has a case of pneumonia and Mersa. Antibiotics have been given to fight these issues.

University High School Band is having there Christmas Concert tonight. They will be honoring Roli and all are invited to attend. They will be collecting funds for the Otero family.

December 10: The Doctor's have taken Roli off the medication that has kept Roli paralyzed. They have also reduceds the sedation medicine. While cleaning Roli's mouth, Roli bit the stick that the nurse was using. GREAT!!!!!!!! He also is being weened from the ventilator and is starting to breath on his own. The High School Band dedicated "I'll Be Home For Christmas" to Roli. They also raised a good amount of money for the families of Randi and Roli

If you'd like to contribute toward a fund to assist the family with financial obligations during this difficult time, you can send your check (payable to Raul Otero) to:
Innovation Church

Raul and JoAnne want to extend there gratitude for all those who have expressed their love for Roli and the family. They are extremely thankful for all the support and love they have received.

These families are such an inspiration. I am believing that God is in control and He is working in powerful ways we cannot even see. He can be trusted even when terrible things happen. We love you Shallers and Oteros!
